Review

The gameplay loop is pure chaos in the best way possible. You're climbing giant monsters, switching vocations on the fly, and your AI pawns are either absolute lifesavers or complete disasters depending on how well you've trained them. Combat feels weighty and satisfying when you're hacking away at a cyclops's ankles while your mage buddy is chucking spells from the sidelines, but it can get frustrating when your party decides to take a coffee break during a dragon fight. The pawn system is still the standout feature though - watching your custom companions learn from their mistakes and adapt their behavior is genuinely cool, even if they occasionally yeet themselves off cliffs. The world looks gorgeous in that realistic fantasy way, with sprawling landscapes that actually feel lived-in rather than just pretty backdrops. The sound design nails the epic scale - from the thunderous footsteps of massive creatures to the ambient chatter of your party members - but it can get a bit muddy during big fights when everyone's yelling over each other. The atmosphere really sells the feeling of being a small part of something much bigger, especially when you're wandering through dense forests and suddenly a griffin swoops down from nowhere. If you like games where you can screw around and see what happens, Dragon's Dogma 2 is worth your time. It's not for players who want hand-holding or perfectly balanced mechanics, but if you're into emergent storytelling and don't mind the occasional jank, you'll probably sink way too many hours into this. Just don't expect it to hold your hand through the learning curve.
