Description
Limbus Company drops you right into this grim city as the boss of twelve seriously damaged sinners, sending you underground to hunt for golden boughs in old Lobotomy Corp ruins. The story hooks you fast with its mix of dark humor, personal backstories, and that same weird Project Moon flavor from the earlier games. Being free to play makes it easy to jump in, though you can feel the usual gacha tug pretty quick.
Review
The turn-based combat uses a clash system where your skill choices go up against enemies in a rock-paper-scissors kind of way, and landing a perfect counter feels great when the numbers line up. What gets old fast is how sanity and status effects can snowball if you misread one attack, plus the gacha for new identities means you spend a lot of time farming or hoping for lucky pulls to keep your team strong. Building different sinner loadouts adds some depth, but the difficulty spikes in later stages can turn fun runs into pure frustration. The art is all stylized 2D sprites that look sharp during fights and really sell each sinner's personality through small animations and expressions. Music stands out the most, with tracks that shift from moody exploration beats to intense battle themes that actually make you want to keep going. The whole atmosphere nails that bleak, corporate-dystopia vibe, making the buried facilities feel creepy without needing flashy effects. If you already like story-heavy RPGs or the Library of Ruina games and can handle some gacha grind, Limbus Company is worth a shot for the writing and characters alone. Newer players might bounce off the steep learning curve and resource management though, so try it first before sinking too much time in.
