Description

I've been sinking way too many hours into Torchlight: Infinite lately, and honestly I didn't expect to get pulled in this deep by a free-to-play ARPG. The game throws you into this world where you're basically hunting down ancient tech while everything's going to hell, and the loot just keeps coming. What really got me was how many different ways you can build your hero - it's like the game is constantly saying "yeah, go ahead and try that crazy combo."

Review

The combat loop feels really satisfying once you get a build going, with skills that chain together in ways that make you feel like an absolute badass clearing screens of enemies. The skill system gives you a ton of freedom to experiment without punishing you too much for trying weird combinations, though the learning curve can be pretty steep if you're not familiar with these types of games. The seasonal content keeps things fresh too, with new mechanics and challenges that make you rethink your approach every few months. Visually the game strikes a nice balance between that classic Torchlight art style and more modern graphics that actually look good on current hardware. The environments have this lived-in feel that makes the world feel real, and the sound design really sells the weight of your attacks and the chaos of big fights. The music does a great job of keeping you pumped during long grinding sessions without getting annoying after hours of play. If you're into ARPGs and don't mind the free-to-play elements, this is definitely worth checking out - especially if you like theorycrafting builds and hunting for that perfect piece of gear. The monetization isn't as aggressive as some other free games, so you can enjoy most of the core experience without spending anything. It's not going to replace Path of Exile for hardcore players, but it scratches that same itch in a more accessible package.
