Soulframe Opens Its Alpha To All PC Players Starting November 6
The long-running invite-only phase for Soulframe is officially ending. Starting on November 6, anyone with a Windows PC can download the fantasy spin-off for free through a new public test called Soulframe Open Preludes. This early access build arrives just before the Verse of the Veilands patch, which is scheduled for later that same month.
Unlike previous testing windows that opened the doors mainly around TennoCon each year, Open Preludes removes the invitation barrier entirely. However, the alpha won't be available on storefronts such as Steam. Players will need to grab the client straight from the game's official site. That distinction matters for anyone expecting a typical launcher-based installation.
Digital Extremes creative director Geoff Crookes stated in a release that adding mounts and world progression systems made this the right moment to expand testing, because the team wants essential criticism from a broader player base on those features and everything built so far.
What Verse of the Veilands brings
The upcoming update introduces new regions that players can purify using a fresh Pact character named Ode Shrike. After cleansing two of these areas, you can nurture and feed the Pact until it transforms into the Omen Wolf—Soulframe's first ridable companion. This mount system and the accompanying world progression are the headline additions for the November patch.
Alongside this announcement, Digital Extremes has brought back the seasonal Bita's Eve event. It includes a new headless rider mini-boss called Veltruska and a catchable fish known as the Sunken Terror.
Why this matters for players
Opening the test to everyone signals a significant step for Soulframe, which has stayed fairly closed since its initial reveal. The change not only lets newcomers experience the game early but also feeds directly into the studio's need for large-scale feedback on core systems. There is still no public timeline for a full Windows PC launch, but this move points to a wider release becoming more tangible.
What feature are you most eager to test first once Open Preludes goes live—the new region purification, the Omen Wolf mount, or the returning Halloween event? Let us know in the comments.
