American Truck Simulator

Description

If you've ever just wanted to zone out behind the wheel of a big rig with nothing but highways ahead, American Truck Simulator is basically that fantasy turned into a game. You haul cargo across California, Nevada, and Arizona, building up your own little trucking operation along the way. It sounds simple but it hooks you fast once the miles start adding up.

Review

Gameplay revolves around realistic driving mechanics like gear shifting, managing your speed on long stretches, and nailing those tricky deliveries without damaging the cargo. It's satisfying when everything clicks on a smooth route, but it gets annoying fast with tight parking spots or sudden traffic that forces you to brake hard and lose time. The economy side lets you buy trucks and hire drivers, which adds a nice layer of progression without turning into full-on management busywork. The visuals do a solid job showing off those iconic desert highways and city skylines, especially during golden hour drives, though some areas feel a bit repetitive after dozens of trips. Sound is where it really shines with authentic engine noises, tire hum, and radio stations that keep things from getting too quiet on the road. The whole vibe feels immersive enough that you can lose an hour or two without realizing it. This one is perfect for folks who enjoy slow-burn sims and don't mind a relaxed pace, since it rewards careful driving and route planning over anything flashy. Skip it if you're looking for high-speed thrills or deep narratives, but it's a nice escape for anyone wanting to chill after a long day.
