Artifact

Description

If you're into card games but want something that actually feels like a battle from Dota 2, Artifact has stuck around in an interesting way with its two modes. The classic version is still there for the hardcore fans while Foundry tries to fix the old problems and bring in new players.

Review

Gameplay hits that sweet spot of strategy when your three lanes line up perfectly and a hero combo wrecks the opponent, but it can drag or frustrate hard if you misread the board or get unlucky with draws. Foundry makes things smoother with the new cards and single player modes, cutting down on the original's overwhelming complexity, though matches still demand serious planning and can punish small mistakes more than most card games. The art pulls from Dota's style with solid hero illustrations and smooth animations during fights, and the sound effects plus voice lines really sell the tension of each lane clash. Overall the atmosphere feels like a quiet chess match rather than an epic spectacle, which fits the game but might leave you wanting more flair after a long session. If you already like deep strategy card games or have Dota nostalgia, Artifact Foundry is worth trying now that the new player stuff got better. Classic fans can still dive into the old version, but anyone looking for quick casual matches should probably look elsewhere.
