Call of Duty®
EDITOR'S RATING
8.0/10
Release Date: October 27, 2026
Description
Call of Duty is still that game you boot up for a few quick matches and suddenly it is 2 a.m. The gunfeel is crisp, the chaos is immediate, and bouncing between Black Ops multiplayer and Warzone keeps the loop fresh without a lot of fuss.
Review
Moment to moment, the gameplay is still the main draw. Guns snap to aim fast, recoil is readable, and the time to kill is quick enough that every peek matters. Movement varies a bit by mode, but it stays in that sweet spot between arcade speed and tactical control. The shared ecosystem means your progression and unlocks follow you across Black Ops 6, the incoming Black Ops 7, and Warzone, so grinding a weapon in one place pays off everywhere. The flip side is the usual Call of Duty stuff that can grate after a while - SBMM can turn casual nights sweaty, spawns can feel dicey on smaller maps, and the grind of attachments, camos, and battle pass tiers can start to feel like a second job. Visually, it is a glossy, high frame rate showcase when your settings are dialed in. Animations are smooth, muzzle flashes are punchy, and the art teams continue to nail that near-future military vibe. Audio hits hard with meaty gunshots and distinct hit confirmation, though footstep clarity and occlusion can be inconsistent from patch to patch. Warzone still delivers those big cinematic moments with huge sightlines and tense end circles, but visibility can dip with flashy operator skins and busy effects. The weakest part remains the hub and menus - cluttered store tiles, too many submenus, and a general sense of bloat that makes simple tasks take longer than they should, all on top of the massive install sizes. If you love fast, lethal shooters and want an all-in-one place to squad up for multiplayer one night and drop into Warzone the next, this is an easy recommendation. The unified setup supporting Black Ops 6, Black Ops 7, and Warzone makes it simple to keep your crew together and your unlocks moving forward. If you are allergic to SBMM, live service grind, or the modern cosmetics machine, you may bounce off it. But for everyone else, there is a polished, endlessly replayable shooter here that keeps delivering quick thrills and clutch moments, even when the menus try their best to get in the way.
