Warhammer 40,000: Darktide

Description

If you're into hacking through endless hordes with a chainsword while your buddies blast away with lasguns, Darktide feels like a bloody good time in the 40k universe. It's basically Vermintide but with guns, chaos cults, and way more explosions. You jump in as these scrappy rejects trying to take back a city that's gone completely to hell.

Review

Gameplay hits hard when everything clicks, especially in co-op where four players coordinate to smash through waves of poxwalkers and tougher elites. The melee feels chunky and satisfying as you cleave through crowds, but the ranged weapons can feel a bit weak at times and the class system locks you into roles that don't always mesh well with random groups. It gets frustrating when the AI director throws too many specials at once or when progression feels grindy with limited loadout options early on. The visuals nail that grim, grimy 40k look with dark corridors, flickering lights, and blood everywhere, making Tertium feel like a real nightmare to fight through. Sound design stands out with booming gunfire, frantic enemy yells, and that constant background chaos that pulls you right into the atmosphere, though the visuals can turn into a blurry mess during big fights. Overall this is a solid pick if you have friends who love co-op horde shooters and don't mind some rough edges in the systems. Skip it if you're playing solo or want something polished and balanced right out the gate, but Warhammer fans will probably have a blast anyway.
