Description

I just spent the last week diving into Zenless Zone Zero and honestly, it's got that same addictive pull that kept me glued to Genshin back in the day. You play as a Proxy guiding these wild Agents through creepy dimensional rifts called Hollows, and the combat just feels so snappy and satisfying. The urban fantasy setting with its neon-soaked city of New Eridu is genuinely fresh compared to the usual fantasy stuff.

Review

The combat is where this game really shines - you switch between different Agents mid-fight with really smooth timing-based combos, and each character has this distinct personality that comes through in how they fight. The dodge mechanics feel responsive and there's something really satisfying about landing those perfect counters against the weird monsters in the Hollows. That said, some of the later commissions start feeling a bit repetitive with the same enemy types, and the stamina system can feel restrictive when you're trying to chain together longer sessions. The visual style is this really cool mix of retro-futuristic Tokyo vibes with all these bright neon signs and gritty alleyways, and the soundtrack absolutely nails that urban cyberpunk feel with its mix of electronic beats and rock tracks. The character designs are super distinctive - I caught myself just watching my Agents do idle animations because they all have these little personality quirks that make them feel alive. The voice acting is solid too, especially during those commission briefings where the dialogue actually made me laugh out loud a few times. If you're into action games with gacha elements and don't mind the usual free-to-play trappings, this is worth checking out, especially if you liked the combat loop from Honkai Star Rail but wanted something more hands-on. The story about uncovering the mysteries of New Eridu has some genuinely interesting twists, and the Agent stories give you reasons to actually care about these characters beyond just their combat utility. Just be prepared for the typical HoYoverse progression systems if you're jumping in as a free player.
