Petit Planet Switch 2 Release Set for 2027

miHoYo has confirmed that its upcoming cosmic life simulation game Petit Planet will receive a Nintendo Switch 2 version in 2027. The news came during a pre-launch special program, which also detailed the game's initial December 4 release on PC, iOS, and Android.

A Living World in the Starsea

In Petit Planet, players become Planet Tenders, journeying across the Starsea astride Oumuamua, a mystical spirit said to hear the wishes of all hearts. Upon arriving on their own planet, players plant a Luca Seed that slowly grows into a towering Luca Arbor, shaping the terrain, seasons, and ecosystem over time. The planet isn't a solitary experience: NPCs like Planet Coordinator Mobai and Starsea Racer Elsasani are the first to greet newcomers, with additional Neighbors moving in who bring their own stories. Bonds with these characters can deepen from chance meetings into enduring friendships. Beyond tending their home world, players can navigate the Starsea to discover scattered Islets or visit the Galactic Bazaar for minigames, auctions, and a hub to share creations.

Pre-Launch Events and Rewards

To build excitement, HoYoverse has lined up a generous array of promotions. A website lucky draw offers prizes for pre-registering, and over 1,000 cosmetic items can be unlocked through regular play. The "Besties, Made to Match!" campaign rewards trios who pre-register together with an exclusive outfit. Starting November 1, a web event lets players design custom planets for a chance at grand prizes. At launch, the first Seasonal Creation Event will award cash, in-game currency, and merchandise to standout fan creations. The game's official X account also provides a "Moving Guide" and a sweepstakes for travel-themed prizes.

A New Frontier for Life Sims

Petit Planet brings miHoYo's signature polish to the life simulation genre, blending cosmic exploration with deep social and creative systems. The free-to-play model, plus the eventual Switch 2 launch, positions it to attract a broad audience—from dedicated PC gamers to cozy console players.
