Man, if you like hacking through hordes of demons and chasing that next piece of gear, Diablo IV is the kind of game that can eat up your evenings without you noticing. It drops you into a grim world where the story actually pulls you along while the loot keeps you coming back. Still, it is not without its rough spots that can wear on you after a while.

Review

The combat loop feels really satisfying once you settle into a class and start unlocking skills, with big flashy combos that make you feel powerful against big packs of monsters. That said, the open world sometimes throws in too many simple fetch quests or escort missions that slow the pace down, and the endgame grind for better gear can start feeling repetitive if you play solo for long stretches. Co-op helps a lot though, since jumping into a friend's world to smash a world boss together adds some excitement that solo play lacks. The environments look dark and detailed, from foggy swamps to ruined cities, and the sound design really sells the horror with heavy footsteps, eerie music, and monster screams that make fights feel intense. Atmosphere is top notch during the main story, though some areas start to blend together visually after dozens of hours, and the constant rain or fog effects can make it hard to spot enemies sometimes. If you enjoyed the older Diablo games or other action RPGs with deep loot systems, this one is worth your time for the campaign and seasonal updates alone. Casual players might get the most out of the story mode without diving too deep into the grind, while hardcore fans will appreciate the class variety and seasonal twists that keep things fresh.
