7 Days to Die: What’s your must-know tip for cozy fortress survival?
I’ve spent the last few cozy evenings holed up in a converted farmhouse, listening to the rain hammer the roof while a distant groan reminds me that night seven is coming. 7 Days to Die has this incredible way of blending tension and comfort—one moment I’m arranging candles in a window nook, the next I’m frantically patching a collapsing support beam because a demolisher just broke through the spikes. The atmosphere is top-notch, from foggy dawns to thunder-soaked nights, and the sound design makes every creak feel like a threat.
For those of you who’ve been surviving since the early days: what’s the one piece of advice you wish you’d known when you started? Do you prioritize a specific perk build, or swear by a peculiar base design trick? Maybe a hidden POI that’s perfect for a peaceful (ish) camp? I’d love to hear your hard-earned wisdom.

My must-know tip: don't get carried away with cozy lighting. Every extra torch, candle, and spotlight is an open invitation for your frame pacing to completely disintegrate the second a horde shows up. Dynamic shadows and physics checks love chewing through CPU cycles. Keep your aesthetic crafting hub completely separate from your horde base, otherwise you'll be defending your dream farmhouse at a cinematic slide-show framerate, especially if you're trying to play on a handheld.
