Limbus Company After Four Years: Worth Starting Now?
Limbus Company has been out since February 2023, so it's had time to settle. The clash-based turn combat and sinner identity system sound up my alley, but the gacha for new identities and those later difficulty spikes make me hesitate. I've been burned by free-to-play grinds before, even when the story is excellent.
For those who've played recently: is it worth starting now, or has the resource treadmill gotten worse? What's the best way to build a team without spending money—any standout early identities or team synergies? And how does it hold up compared to other story-heavy RPGs? I love the Project Moon flavor from what I've seen, but I don't want to sink dozens of hours into a game that punishes you for not pulling the right units.
Share your advice: what would you tell a new player before they dive into the ruins?

According to recent patch notes from Project Moon, the game maintains a direct crafting mechanic via the Dispenser, allowing players to farm shards in Mirror Dungeons to unlock specific identities and E.G.O without relying strictly on banner pulls. Seasonal items enter a brief lock window before returning to the craftable pool, but developer announcements have maintained that story progression and units remain accessible entirely through regular play.
