GTA 6 Delay Timeline: From Fall 2025 to November 19, 2026

The Confirmed Delay Timeline

If you've been tracking the GTA 6 release like I've been tracking frame times, you already know this game has slipped more than a wet Vice City sidewalk. The first public window was way back in May 2024 when Take-Two's earnings report mentioned a Fall 2025 target. That was the era of naive optimism when we thought we'd be playing this thing before the next gen of GPUs even arrived.

Then, May 2025 happened. Rockstar announced a delay to May 26, 2026. The company kept it brief, but the community collectively groaned. Six months later, in November 2025, they dropped another bombshell: the game was pushed again, this time to November 19, 2026. Rockstar accompanied that with an actual apology:

"We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve."

Those were the two official delays, taking us from a vague Fall 2025 to a concrete November 19, 2026. That's the date currently burned into the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S store pages. Pre-load starts November 12, so at least the countdown is real this time—hopefully.

What the Delays Mean for PC (Spoiler: Nothing Good)

Here's the part that really stings for us mouse-and-keyboard types. There is still no announced PC version, period. Take-Two's CEO has said the console-first approach is just how Rockstar rolls, not some exclusivity deal. An October 2026 GamesBeat report claims a PC release in Q1 2027, but that's a rumor, not a promise. The cynical read: every console delay probably pushed that PC window further out. With the game finally launching in late November 2026, I wouldn't expect to tweak those inevitable "advanced graphics" settings until at least mid-2027. And don't even ask about Steam Deck compatibility—we'll be lucky if the PC version launches within the same calendar year as the console release. What We Still Don't Know

Rockstar has been tight-lipped about almost everything beyond the trailers and a couple of press cycles. We don't have official word on whether the game will hit 60fps on base consoles, or if there's a performance mode on PS5 Pro. The multiplayer component? Only rumored for 2027. And while the delays suggest a massive, polished experience, there's always the tiny, horrifying chance of a last-minute slip—though with pre-orders live and marketing in full swing, that seems unlikely. For now, all we can do is stare at the November 19 date and pray the next patch note isn't another delay.
