GTA 6 release date

Part of the GTA 6 hub · 8 posts

The wait is almost over: Grand Theft Auto VI is confirmed to release on November 19, 2026, exclusively for PlayStation 5 (including PS5 Pro) and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-load and physical editions (which contain a download code instead of a disc) go live a week earlier on November 12, 2026.

The road to launch has been a long one. Rockstar initially confirmed the game was well underway in February 2022, with a Fall 2025 window first targeted. In May 2025 it slipped to May 26, 2026, then again in November 2025 to the current November 19, 2026 date. The studio apologized for the additional wait, stating it was needed to "finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve."

On this page, we've gathered everything you need to know about launch timing — from unlock schedules to a live countdown. We also answer the most common questions about the GTA 6 release.
