GTA 6 Ultimate Edition at $99.99: Breaking Down the Extra Vehicles, Weapons, and Story Content
What the Ultimate Edition costs and when you can get it
If you are picking up Grand Theft Auto VI on console, you have two main choices at launch. The Standard Edition is $79.99, and the Ultimate Edition is $99.99. Pre-orders for both opened on June 25, 2026, and both are available digitally through the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store. Physical editions—which Rockstar notes are a download code in a box, not a disc—arrive alongside the digital pre-load on November 12, 2026. If you start with the Standard Edition, Rockstar says you can upgrade to Ultimate later, though they have not shared a separate upgrade price yet.
Confirmed bonus vehicles and where you might use them
The official Take-Two press release from June 24, 2026 lists "exclusive premium vehicles" as part of the Ultimate Edition. Rockstar has not named these vehicles or shown them in any trailer, so we do not know if they are new rides or souped-up versions of cars we have already spotted around Vice City and the state of Leonida. Based on how premium vehicles worked in GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 special editions, they will likely be available from a garage or website early in the story, but that is an expectation, not a confirmed fact.
Confirmed weapons and personalization extras
Ultimate Edition owners get "personalized weapons" according to the press release. Again, specifics are thin. This could mean unique skins, engravings, or stat variations—similar to the Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack in GTA Online—but Rockstar has not detailed what "personalized" means in GTA VI. Both the premium vehicles and personalized weapons are listed separately from the pre-order bonus (more on that below), so they are distinct perks tied only to the Ultimate Edition.
Story-threaded content and the two Vehicle Mod Shops
This is the part that caught my eye as a co-op and story fan. The press release promises "story-threaded content" exclusive to the Ultimate Edition, along with two Vehicle Mod Shops. Rockstar has not elaborated on what story-threaded content looks like. It could be extra side missions for Jason and Lucia, or it could be a smaller narrative strand like the Strangers and Freaks missions in GTA V. The Vehicle Mod Shops sound like businesses or safehouse upgrades tied to that content, but until Rockstar explains how they work, treat that as an educated guess. The gameplay showcase in August 2026 did not feature any Ultimate Edition-specific missions, so we are still in the dark.
The pre-order bonus—and why it is not part of the Ultimate Edition
There is sometimes confusion here, so let me be clear: the Vintage Vice City Pack is a pre-order or purchase bonus for anyone who buys the game before November 20, 2026, whether you get the Standard or Ultimate Edition. It includes a two-tone '55 Vapid Stanier sedan, the Shore Court Garage on Ocean Beach, throwback outfits for Jason and Lucia, and a weapon pattern. It does not require the Ultimate Edition, and it is not the same as the Ultimate Edition's exclusive vehicles. Also, digital pre-orders include a free month of GTA+, but that applies to both editions as well.
What the Ultimate Edition does not include
The $399.99 Goodtime State – Vice City Collection is a separate collectible set with a Macca the Gator figure, sunglasses, a hat, and more. It does not include the game at all—physical or digital—so do not mistake it for a deluxe bundle. The official soundtrack album is also sold separately and is not part of any game edition.
Hedged expectations based on past Rockstar editions
If we look at past launches, special editions from Rockstar have often given a small head start in the early hours. The story-threaded content could work similarly, unlocking a few extra missions that drip-feed rewards like cash or unique vehicles. The Vehicle Mod Shops might function like the extra garage properties in GTA Online, but with a narrative wrapper. This is all speculation, though. Rockstar has been very quiet, and with the launch less than a month away, I would not expect a deep dive until maybe a pre-load blog post.
Still unknown: multiplayer ties and upgrade pricing
One big question mark is whether any Ultimate Edition items carry over to whatever GTA Online looks like for GTA VI. Rockstar has only confirmed a single-player experience at launch. A multiplayer mode is widely rumored for 2027, but the press release says nothing about Ultimate Edition perks applying there. The upgrade path for Standard owners is also a blank. Rockstar says you can upgrade later, but the price and method (a one-time fee? a pack in the store?) remain unannounced. I will update this GTA 6 FAQ once we have official word.
